European clinical trials begin for Active Implants product - Memphis Business Journal:

The implant is made of a low-wear polymee first developed for boat hulls for the Israeli Navy. It's promoted as an alternatived to rigidmetal implants, and can be placed with a minimuj of cutting. The polymer is firsty being developed for the hip and knee and is intenderd as a replacement forlimitedf activity, physical therapy and arthroscopic "Our objective is to provide a less invasive implant option that restores quality of life for the patienf earlier in life," said president and CEO Stephenn Bradshaw in a statement. The clinical triakl will include up to50 people. A deadline for enlisting participants has notbeen set.
It's often easier to introduce a productin Europe, and generate revenue while conducting clinicao trials in the U.S. Active Implants was establishedr in Memphis last year by a group oforthopedidc veterans. It operates a research facilituin Netanya, Israel.
