The Columbus-based chemical maker said it plans to move its customefr service group to existing operationa in Gahannaand Springfield, Ore. Spokesmanj Peter Loscocco said a few jobs from Hexio operationsin Carpentersville, Ill., will head to where the company employs 17 workers. The Ohio Department of Developmenty in 2007 granted the companya 10-year tax incentive to establisgh a 12,000-square-foot service centee in Gahanna that the company pledged wouled employ up to 45 workerds within three years. Hexion on Fridat also unveiled plans to tweak manufacturingf and distribution operations at plantsin Lynwood, Calif.; S.C.; Ennis, Texas; Forest Park, Ga.; and Carpentersville.
Loscoccio said the changes, which are aimed at boosting servicee to customers andcutting costs, will includer an undetermined number of job cuts at the California and Illinoiws sites. No interruption in operations is expected as a resuly ofthe changes, the company Hexion expects to wrap up the realignmentf before April 2010. The former changed its name in 2005, when it merger with Houston-based chemical producers and All three companiesd are ownedby , a New York-base investment firm. Hexion, which employs 250 workerz in Central Ohioand 6,8000 worldwide, lost $1.19 billion on $6.09 billion in revenue last year.
